– In recent years, we have observed a clear increase in interest in regional rail transport. Responding to the needs of the region’s residents, we are expanding our offer by taking over additional lines, purchasing modern rolling stock, and also concluding agreements with carriers. The agreement with Polregio is the result of our cooperation in this area – says Marshal Cezary Przybylski.

Under the agreement, POREGIO will provide transport services until mid-December 2030. Each year, the services provided in the previous year will be settled and the detailed timetable for the next annual period will be agreed.

– We want railways to be as accessible as possible to the residents of our voivodeship. We are constantly investing in the development of the regional rail network, and signing this agreement is a continuation of our efforts – adds Tymoteusz Myrda, a member of the voivodeship board.

In addition to eighteen extra train pairs, including on the lines to Wołów, Opole and Poznań, passengers will also benefit from changes resulting from route modernization. For example, on the modernized Wrocław–Poznań line, POLREGIO trains stopping at every station will run up to several dozen minutes faster. On the Wrocław–Ścinawa–Głogów–Zielona Góra line, meanwhile, only modernized rolling stock equipped with air conditioning and facilities for people with disabilities will operate from April next year. The carrier sought to establish the most regular intervals possible, so that trains would run every half hour during peak hours and hourly outside peak hours.

– Lower Silesia is a unique place with a dense railway network. I am pleased that, despite investing in its own transport company, the Marshal’s Office maintains a high level of cooperation with POLREGIO. This allows us to develop the network of connections both for metropolitan and interregional transport – says Artur Martyniuk, president of the POLREGIO management board.
