Ministerial officials:

The current situation related to the coronavirus pandemic is forcing many people to remain in strict isolation. Although this year’s Christmas holidays will be completely different from those we have experienced so far, Polish Armed Forces soldiers will make every effort to ensure that seniors and sick people can see and talk to their loved ones.

And they add:

During the pre-Christmas period, from 21 to 24 December 2020, Territorial Defence Forces soldiers will organise video calls with families, loved ones or friends in hospitals, nursing homes and veterans’ homes. The assistance will cover both veterans cared for by TDF soldiers throughout the country and other elderly people who have not previously received assistance from the military.

They also assure that TDF soldiers have completed appropriate training, so calls will also be arranged for patients suffering from COVID-19. The campaign will also include, among others, patients in oncology hospitals.

How can you apply?

Requests for help organising a video call with family can be sent to the email address: pomocwot@mon.gov.pl or made by calling 800 100 115.

Polish Armed Forces soldiers have been helping elderly and ill people throughout the pandemic. MON:

The Polish Armed Forces care for more than 10,000 veterans, elderly people and those in need. Territorial Defence Forces soldiers also support nursing homes and are once again taking part in the “Meals for Heroes” campaign. Thanks to the support of TDF soldiers, veterans receive meals, groceries, medicines and assistance. Loneliness is what hurts most during the pandemic, which is why, as veterans themselves often emphasise, the most important things for them are meetings, conversations and contact with volunteers and Territorial Defence Forces soldiers.
