The incident occurred on Friday, October 30, at around 10:00 a.m. Bolesławiec police officers received a telephone report that a truck was traveling along the motorway and was probably being driven by an intoxicated driver. Shortly afterward, officers received another report: the vehicle had left the motorway and entered a petrol station.

KPP Bolesławiec:

When officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police arrived at the station, they saw a truck. A young man was sitting behind the wheel, and the officers immediately took the keys from the ignition. After leaving the vehicle’s cab, the driver had difficulty maintaining his balance. A sobriety test showed that the 31-year-old had almost 4 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled breath.

The man was detained in a police holding cell, while the vehicle was handed over to a representative of the company where the 31-year-old works. The intoxicated driver was transporting goods from Germany to Slovakia.

Officers:

The detainee faces the possibility of losing his driving licence for many years, up to two years in prison, and financial penalties. The man will probably also lose his job.
