The first 155 mm KRAB self-propelled howitzers, together with command vehicles and ammunition vehicles, arrived at the 23rd Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec at the beginning of this week. Following the completion of factory training for the crews of the 155 mm KRAB self-propelled howitzers, the first batch of new equipment forming part of the REGINA Battalion Fire Module arrived at the Bolesławiec regiment on Monday, 26 October.

From the morning hours, the regular crews of the 2nd Battery of the 2nd Self-Propelled Artillery Squadron began accepting the equipment and technical documentation from representatives of the manufacturer, Huta Stalowa Wola SA. In addition to eight 155 mm KRAB howitzers, the artillerymen received three command vehicles (WD), a command-and-staff vehicle, and two ammunition vehicles in the first batch.

“The KRAB self-propelled howitzer is a modern weapon system characterized by a high rate of fire, reaching six rounds per minute during intense fire, and a range of up to 40 kilometers,” says the squadron commander, Lt. Col. Jacek Jackowski. The “KRABs” are equipped, among other things, with a precise inertial navigation system, an advanced fire-control system, a communications system, and many other systems that contribute to the high combat capabilities of this modern weapon system. “My subordinates already had an opportunity to learn the combat value of the new equipment while firing live ammunition at the training ground as part of factory training at Huta Stalowa Wola,” adds Lt. Col. Jackowski.
