Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters:

Last week, we reported eight unsuccessful fraud attempts in a single day. As it turned out, there had been more criminal acts targeting elderly people; they were simply reported later.

According to the officers’ findings, the scammers called seniors for three days, attempting to extort money from them. They succeeded at least twice. The officers said: “By informing the victim about alleged criminal activity by bank employees, the callers convinced the woman that handing over cash to the services was the only way to guarantee the safety of her savings. The woman withdrew the money and left the banknotes in the agreed location.

The second successful crime took place that same day. This time, an elderly man fell victim. Bolesławiec police officers:

Please talk to your parents and grandparents about their safety. We remind you: the police do not inform people about such activities and do not take money into safekeeping.
