On 8 October, officers from the Bolesławiec SPEED group stopped, among others, three drivers who were travelling very fast in a built-up area. The highest speed was recorded from a 47-year-old resident of Gromadka Municipality. He exceeded the speed limit by 80 km/h. A 23-year-old from Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality was travelling at 106 km/h where the limit was 50 km/h.
Meanwhile, a resident of Wrocław, who was using an English document, exceeded the speed limit by 54 km/h. For violating traffic regulations, the drivers were fined and received 10 penalty points. The officers took their driving licences for three months.
In September, 12 drivers in Bolesławiec County lost their driving licences for three months after exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in a built-up area. Weather conditions will become increasingly difficult, so we should remember that excessive speed is the cause of many tragic road accidents.
The officers urge drivers to take their foot off the accelerator. The weather, particularly in autumn, can be highly changeable, and sunshine does not always mean a dry road surface. Drivers should therefore observe speed limits and adjust their speed to the prevailing conditions. Driving too fast means not only the risk of losing one’s driving licence, but also a serious threat to the safety of all road users.
