The incident occurred during the night of September 25–26. Volunteer firefighters from Krzyżowa (Gromadka municipality):
At 12:28 a.m., we were dispatched to a fallen branch in our village. Upon arriving at the scene, we found a fallen branch on the roadway and downed power lines lying across the road. Our task was to secure the scene and completely close the road in both directions.
