The tragedy occurred on Thursday, September 10, at the Rudna Mining Plant. As a result of a tremor in the G-11 department, a 43-year-old senior mining supervisor was killed. Despite the swift rescue operation carried out by the crew and rescuers, the man could not be saved.
KGHM reports:
The miner who tragically died was a resident of Lubin and left two children orphaned. He had worked at ZG Rudna since 2002.
The tremor occurred at a depth of more than 1,200 meters. A commission was immediately appointed to investigate all the circumstances of the accident.
A three-day mourning period was introduced at all KGHM departments.
