The incident occurred on September 8, at around 10:00 a.m., in Raszówka. “As established by the traffic police officers working at the scene, the 19-year-old driver of a passenger car was traveling from the direction of Karczowiska near the PKP railway station and, while entering a bend, probably at excessive speed, lost control of the vehicle. The car left the bend, rolled over and crashed into the gate of a private property,” reports asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “The 19-year-old was taken by an emergency medical team for detailed diagnostic examinations. Fortunately, he did not suffer serious injuries.”
Officers:
This is yet another incident in Lubin County involving young and therefore inexperienced drivers. The 19-year-old man had held his driving licence for only a few months.
They add:
We appeal for caution and common sense. Too many tragedies and dramatic incidents take place on the roads. Most of these incidents could have been avoided if basic safety and caution rules had been followed.
Drivers must be aware that they are responsible for their own lives, as well as for the lives and health of others. Recklessness, bravado and risky behaviour can lead to tragedy.
It should be emphasised that failure to adjust speed to traffic conditions is the main cause of fatal accidents attributable to drivers.
