OSP Czerna:

On September 3, a fire broke out in a multi-family house in Czerna. Six families lost the roofs over their heads. People who were also members of our fire service lived there; every day they saved the lives of others, so now we must help them too. We ask for help for all the families, for the honorary firefighter who also lived there, for families with children, and for pensioners who need every kind of assistance.

Everyone who donates more than PLN 150 will receive a commemorative mug with a picture of the building. The mugs will be available for collection from representatives of the OSP Czerna board after September 20, 2020.

The mugs were funded by FotoGadżet.

Please help; let us remember that this collection is for all the families.

Firefighters from the Komenda Powiatowa Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Bolesławcu about Thursday’s fire:

At around 8 p.m. on September 3, 2020, the dispatcher of the SK KP PSP in Bolesławiec received a radio message from the chief of OSP KSRG in Czerna that they were responding with two crews to a fire in a multi-family building. The roof fire was visible from the OSP station.

Three additional crews from JRG Bolesławiec and all OSP units from the Nowogrodziec municipality, including two aerial ladders, were dispatched to the incident. Rescue and firefighting operations were already under way two minutes after the report, and 16 people were evacuated from the building.

After ensuring that no one remained in the building, the electricity was disconnected and two water jets were applied, one on the third floor. Because the collapsing roof posed a threat to the rescuers’ lives, a firefighting team was withdrawn from the building, and firefighting continued with water delivered from the ladder baskets. These actions made it possible to extinguish the roof framework fire, which in turn allowed firefighting teams to re-enter the building and extinguish the remaining hot spots.

At the same time, workers dismantled the roof covering and extinguished burning elements of the wooden roof structure. Because of the building’s construction, with wooden ceilings, it was significantly damaged by water flooding the lower floors; therefore, during the later stage, efforts focused on evacuating property.

The District Building Supervision Inspector who arrived at the scene informed the residents that a decision prohibiting use of the building had been issued. To limit further damage, the roof was covered with tarpaulins.
