The beginning of the 2020/2021 school year is approaching. Everything indicates that education will no longer be conducted remotely. On August 25, we asked all local authorities in Bolesławiec County how local educational institutions were prepared for this opening. So far, only three municipalities have responded.

Tomasz Matyjewicz, secretary of Gromadka Municipality:

The school year will begin without ceremonial assemblies, with only meetings with class teachers. At present, no remote or shift-based learning is planned.

Detailed information is available from school principals.

Mirosław Haniszewski, head of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality:

Schools in Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality are preparing to begin the new school year in accordance with all guidelines. As of today, no school will operate remotely or in shifts.

Barbara Majecka, head of the Municipal School Services Centre in Bolesławiec Municipality:

Schools and preschools in Bolesławiec Municipality are well prepared for the opening of the 2020/2021 school year. Due to the applicable sanitary regime, schools have developed procedures required by law specifying how education will be organised during the pandemic. The institutions have been supplied with disinfectants, cleaning products, disposable gloves, masks and face shields—for both teachers and pupils in the older grades.

There are touchless disinfection stations at the entrances to schools and preschools. Teaching will take place on site, as there is currently no need to introduce remote or shift-based learning for any group of pupils.

Each class will be assigned one classroom in which all lessons will be held, except for classes in the computer lab, which will be disinfected and ventilated after every lesson. Where possible, the education of children in grades 1–3 has also been separated from that of older pupils.

Depending on the weather, children and teenagers will spend breaks on the school sports field, in the playground or in classrooms. Physical education classes will likewise be held on the school sports field whenever possible. Every school will operate an after-school common room, with all applicable restrictions observed.

The opening of the new school year will be very modest. If the weather is sunny, principals will welcome the children and teenagers on the school sports field, with appropriate distances maintained. Depending on need, pupils will be divided into groups and then go to their classrooms for meetings with their class teachers. If it rains, the principals will meet only first-grade pupils in the sports hall. On that day, only one parent of each child will exceptionally be allowed into the hall.

The municipal opening ceremony will take place at the School and Preschool Complex in Kraśnik Dolny, where the school community is beginning the year in a new school building. During the ceremony, symbolic keys to the facility will be presented to the principal and the school’s pupils. It is a large, spacious and well-equipped building, offering pupils and teachers not only classrooms but also modern subject-specific rooms.

It should also be emphasised that a new section of the school will be made available to the school community at the Primary School in Kruszyn, significantly improving the conditions for teaching and learning. In connection with the above, the schools and preschools are prepared to open the 2020/2021 school year and operate during these very difficult times in a way that gives children and teenagers a sense of safety and allows the educational process to continue without disruption.

Yesterday, we also provided detailed information about the start of the school year at educational institutions in the Bolesławiec urban municipality.
