The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, after 10:00 a.m. A man was spotted on the roof of one of the high-rise buildings on Bielska Street in Bolesławiec. (He was reportedly standing at the edge of the roof.) Emergency services went to the scene.
Just after the second fire engine arrived (about 30 seconds had passed since the first one arrived, and the firefighters had already begun setting up the rescue air cushion), the man jumped.
Despite attempts to resuscitate the victim, he could not be saved. The Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office is investigating the case. Investigators are determining whether it was a suicide, murder or accident.
Discussion about suicide
We recommend watching our program about suicide. Our expert, Franciszek Małecki Trzaskoś, says: “People are dying, and I believe we should talk about it. The fact that we remain silent about suicide does not mean that the problem will disappear.”
