The Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted to the Wrocław Regional Prosecutor’s Office a request to extend for a further specified period the investigation into the murder of Magdalena Ż. in the Arab Republic of Egypt. (This concerns the high-profile story from spring 2017.) The Regional Prosecutor’s Office granted the request and extended the investigation until 31 December 2020.

“Although extensive evidence has been collected in the case to date, it is nevertheless necessary to request further documents concerning the incident from the Egyptian side. This mainly concerns source documentation forming the basis for the preparation of procedural documents by the Egyptian side,” prosecutor Tomasz Czułowski, press spokesperson for the Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office, reports.

He adds:

The evidence collected so far has not led to any change in the previous findings, including those concerning whether the victim was subjected to sexual or any other form of violence. The finding that the direct cause of Magdalena Ż.’s death was injuries sustained as a result of a fall from a great height also remains valid.

Investigators: “The proceedings are still being conducted in a case concerning murder; nevertheless, the final legal classification will be adopted after all the evidence has been collected and analysed.”
