The matter concerns the polling station on Gwiezdna Street in Legnica. The entire incident was witnessed by a man living near the polling station, who knew that the lift there was not working. At one point, the Legnica resident noticed that an elderly couple had arrived to vote. The wife was using a wheelchair.
And, of course, it turned out that the lift was out of order and that the woman could not get to the polling station that way. After approximately fifteen or twenty minutes, the witness reported, women from the electoral commission came down to the disabled woman with a ballot paper. The woman from Legnica then cast her vote in front of them, which outraged the aforementioned voter. In the latter’s opinion, the woman’s husband should have taken his wife’s ballot paper upstairs.
Informed about the matter, the Legnica Delegation of the National Electoral Office instructed the electoral commission in question that such situations are unacceptable. It is not known whether the vote cast by the disabled woman from Legnica will be counted.
(Fortunately, this was the only such incident. The lift was repaired).
