The accident occurred on Saturday, June 27, after 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Cieszkowskiego and Staszica streets. The fire engine that collided with the passenger car was from Legnica. The firefighters were responding to a search operation with their siren on.
Three people were traveling in the passenger car, which had registration plates from Bolesławiec: two adults and a child. The driver was injured and taken away by ambulance. According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of the Volvo tried to overtake another car stopped before the intersection at high speed and drove directly into the fire engine traveling along the main road.
The firefighters’ vehicle and the passenger car were damaged and are not roadworthy. The firefighters were not injured in the incident.
