Thanks to their vigilance, officers from the Prevention Department of the Lubin police prevented a substantial quantity of drugs from reaching the black market.
“The operation began innocently enough. The officers’ attention was drawn to a car travelling through Lubin at night with faulty dipped headlights,” says asp. Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “During the roadside check, the four occupants were behaving nervously, which aroused suspicion. And indeed, the men were not innocent. A substantial quantity of drugs was found inside the vehicle, concealed under a seat and in jars in the vehicle’s trunk.
Four men aged between 17 and 20 were arrested. (All of them are residents of Legnica.) The officers seized 240 doses of ecstasy and more than 4,180 doses of methamphetamine. They also confiscated equipment that could have been used to produce drugs.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubin opened an investigation into the case. The court ordered two of the suspects to be held in temporary custody.
Possession of a substantial quantity of drugs is punishable by one to 10 years’ imprisonment.
