Bolesławiec criminal investigators detained a 39-year-old man, a resident of our county, who paid with a counterfeit €20 banknote at one of the gas stations in the City of Ceramics.

“The banknote was secured immediately after the incident and subjected to analysis. After obtaining footage from the store’s surveillance system, police established the suspect’s identity and detained him,” says Sgt. Marta Kubiak from the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. “The man is well known to the police for other criminal activities

The 39-year-old was charged by the prosecutor. Criminal Code:

Article 310. §1. Anyone who counterfeits or alters Polish or foreign currency, Polish or foreign legal tender that has been established as a legal means of payment but has not yet been put into circulation, another means of payment, or a document authorizing the receipt of a sum of money or containing an obligation to pay capital, interest or a share of profits, or certifying participation in a company, or another means of payment, or removes a cancellation mark from such a document, shall be subject to imprisonment for not less than 5 years or imprisonment for 25 years.

§2. Anyone who puts the currency, other means of payment, monetary sign or document referred to in §1 into circulation, or accepts, stores, transports, transfers or sends it for that purpose, or assists in its disposal or concealment, shall be subject to imprisonment for between one and 10 years.
