On Thursday, 28 May, two drunk drivers were arrested by police. “The first man was arrested in Świętoszów. The 38-year-old resident of Osiecznica Municipality got behind the wheel with 2‰ of alcohol in his breath,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters.
The spokesperson adds:
The second man was arrested thanks to another driver’s reaction and decisive action. Seeing a vehicle on the road making dangerous manoeuvres—including crossing into the opposite lane and thereby posing a threat to other road users—the man suspected that the driver might be under the influence of alcohol. As soon as an opportunity arose, when the vehicle stopped at an intersection, he immediately acted, took the keys from the intoxicated driver and called a patrol to the scene.
The reporting driver’s suspicions were confirmed. The 62-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County had almost 3.5‰ of alcohol in his breath.
Both suspects now face up to two years in prison, the loss of their driving licences for many years and financial consequences.
Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
We would like to thank the resident of Bolesławiec County who prevented the drunk driver from continuing to drive, and congratulate him on an exemplary attitude worthy of imitation.
