Officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn detained a man suspected of committing four offences in the Gromadka and Bolesławiec municipalities. “The perpetrator acted in the same way every time,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. “The man operated under cover of night, took advantage of trucks being parked for longer periods and broke into them to steal fuel from their tanks.”

The detained 26-year-old from Bolesławiec County was charged with four offences: two burglaries and two thefts. In total, he stole more than 700 litres of diesel fuel.

The man admitted his guilt and gave an explanation. He now faces a sentence of between one and as many as ten years in prison.

What does the Bolesławiec police advise?

  • refuel your vehicle immediately before setting out on a journey (after stopping)
  • when refuelling, do not provide information about your route or stopping places
  • when stopping your vehicle, choose guarded, well-lit and trusted locations
  • remain vigilant during breaks and inform the Police of any threats
  • pay particular attention to strangers taking an interest in your truck or its cargo, and inform the Police of any suspicions.
