The first incident occurred during the night of May 16–17 in one of the car parks in Bolesławiec. Two residents of our county, aged 28 and 38, broke into trucks and stole 300 litres of fuel.
However, the thieves did not stop there. “They also took various items from these vehicles, including batteries, a fuel pump, pneumatic wrenches and a drill, causing total losses of approximately PLN 3,000,” says Staff Sergeant Marta Kubiak of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
Both suspects were detained and charged. However… the younger of the two was not particularly concerned, because the following night he committed the same offence, this time in Bolesławiec Municipality. This time, he stole fuel from two agricultural tractors—approximately 600 litres in total. He also stole tools worth PLN 11,000.
Staff Sergeant M. Kubiak:
The evidence gathered enabled officers from the Bolesławiec police department to charge the perpetrators with burglary.
The 28-year-old had previously been convicted of similar offences. Both burglars could now face between one and as many as ten years in prison.
