During the correspondence-based session of the Bolesławiec County Council, held last Thursday, the director of the Bolesławiec county hospital Kamil Barczyk answered a number of councillors’ questions, including those concerning rapid and commercial coronavirus testing. K. Barczyk:
Rapid tests are already being carried out; we passed our first baptism of fire yesterday [czyli w środę – przyp. istotne.pl], using the laboratory’s capacity at 100 percent—testing 100 samples simultaneously, which took almost 20 hours.
Today [w czwartek] the same number is also planned. On Saturday and Sunday as well. We are still waiting for delivery of an extractor, which will allow us to increase capacity to as many as 800 tests per day, while creating one of the larger laboratories in this part of Poland.
He added that the Healthcare Complex is indeed planning commercial Covid-19 testing, which will be available not only to residents of Bolesławiec County but also to people from the Polish-Czech-German border region.
How much will it cost?
As director Kamil Barczyk said, a coronavirus test will cost PLN 320. Serological antibody tests are also planned. Their price—if they are carried out privately rather than, for example, through the National Health Fund—will be PLN 80.
When will private testing begin?
As K. Barczyk said during the Bolesławiec County Council meeting, the sample collection point at the hospital is to be launched in June this year.
