In April, we wrote about break-ins at the Intermarché car wash. Since the facility opened, there have been a dozen or so break-ins at the car wash. Łukasz Dudzic called the police officers inept because, in his opinion, they do not find the burglars but merely discontinue the proceedings. A police spokesperson responds that discontinuing proceedings does not close the way to identifying and arresting the perpetrator of the crime.
It should be added that Łukasz Dudzic is known for investigating police officers’ offenses. He often filed reports alleging that they had committed offenses. We wrote about this, among other places, in the articles: Fighting Officials’ Offenses and You Must Not Film, Photograph or Record at the Police Station.
Łukasz Dudzic:
There have been many break-ins at the car wash and the perpetrators have not been caught.
I see a significant increase in crime. Previously, we had an average of one break-in a year; in the past year, there were already 14 break-ins.
One of the thieves would come to the car wash and the vacuum cleaners during the day, at around 6:00 p.m., and take small amounts of money for his own expenses.
The cost of repairing the equipment was greater than the money stolen.
The crimes are discontinued because the perpetrator was not identified.
There are too few police officers in Bolesławiec. There is a shortage of them at night. I get the impression that they are overburdened with work and unable to handle everything.
If there are too few police officers, the commander should intervene with higher authorities and bring in additional officers.
I received a letter from the police asking me to send the disc again—with recordings of the break-ins—because the disc had gone missing. Then, two or three weeks later, another letter arrived saying that the disc had been found.
I managed to catch one thief personally. Thieves have been quite brazen lately. They come during the day, usually on Fridays and Saturdays, and open the payment modules at the car wash or the vacuum cleaner. I sat in my car, read a newspaper and watched what was happening at the car wash. I caught him and handed him over to the police. I identified him as the perpetrator of four break-ins. I thank one of the customers who helped with the arrest.
The arrest was not difficult. I spent two hours on it. I was not informed how the case ended.
We drivers are often punished for traffic offenses, whereas when police officers commit offenses, there is usually just a warning and the matter ends there.
There used to be a plan to build a petrol station next to Intermarché in Bolesławiec, but unfortunately that is no longer possible. The neighboring plot was bought by a shopping center.
