How does it work?
The drive-thru test takes place on the 12th day of quarantine. A patient who qualifies for testing receives an SMS from the hospital. After receiving the message, they can arrange a specific time by phone and report for testing.
Before the test, patients are identified using an identity document containing their PESEL number. Staff collect a nasopharyngeal swab through the open car window. The sample is then sent to the laboratory, where molecular testing is performed using the RT-PCR method.
The test is free of charge. Patients are informed of the results by phone.
You must arrive at the testing points in your own car, and the test itself does not require you to leave the vehicle. If a person in quarantine cannot drive independently, two people may be present—the driver and the person being tested. However, both the driver and the passenger must live in the same household. (People who do not have a car but must undergo testing will be visited by a so-called swab ambulance).
The service is available only to people arriving by motor vehicle. This means that people arriving on foot, by public transport or by bicycle cannot use the drive-thru test.
County officials:
Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej w Bolesławcu is one of 167 hospitals across Poland where coronavirus testing is performed using the drive-thru method.
And they add:
REMEMBER!!!
If the result is positive, contact the sanitary and epidemiological station and follow the recommendations you receive. Alternatively, report to a doctor at a designated infectious-disease hospital or an infectious-disease ward.
