A prototype and, most importantly, very safe booth for conducting coronavirus tests has been created in Bolesławiec. “The idea came from South Korea; we received a photograph of such a booth from a doctor we are friends with,” istotne.pl was told by Waldemar Pióro, co-owner of the Bolesławiec-based Lumex company, which is involved on a daily basis in the sale and production of mobile stages, aluminium structures and service platforms for helicopters, aircraft and trains, among other products.

“This is a prototype,” W. Pióro stresses. The first booth of its kind in Poland is intended for collecting swabs from people suspected of having coronavirus. The patient will remain outside, while the doctor or nurse will be inside. The result? Greater safety and savings in time as well as personal protective equipment (gloves and coveralls).

The prototype booth, made of aluminium and polycarbonate, cost PLN 10,000. The booth was presented to the management of the Bolesławiec Healthcare Complex on 14 May; this “mini-laboratory” will be delivered there.
