Jakub Krysiak, a member of the Youth Firefighting Team operating within the Volunteer Fire Service in Sędzimirów (Złotoryja County), as well as a student at the Building Schools Complex in Bolesławiec, is only 15 years old. His hobbies include cycling, playing football and photography.

– My father, who was also a volunteer, inspired my passion for the fire service – the teenager from the neighboring county explains. – It began in 2017. During the summer holidays, I gathered with friends from our village and went to the head of our unit with the idea of establishing an MDP. Of course, he agreed without any problem.

Unfortunately, he will not become a professional firefighter (PSP). The reason? Poor eyesight. After graduating from the “Building School,” he intends to find work in a bakery. – Of course, I will remain in the OSP – he emphasizes.

The pandemic motivated him to work even more intensively for the local community. – I had already helped the residents of my village whenever they asked me to – Jakub says. – But this greater involvement began sometime in March. I started writing emails and contacting, via a popular messaging app, companies that distribute disinfectants, nitrile gloves and similar products.

The responses varied: some were positive and others negative. Then Jakub began writing to larger companies. Their response surprised him. – Lajkonik and Lorenz Snack-World donated snacks, while Minibrowary provided a disinfection/decontamination booth – the firefighter lists.

The aforementioned booth is to be delivered at the beginning of next week to the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec!

– What I do for others makes me happy; it gives me immense pleasure. I do what I love – Jakub Krysiak points out. And he announces: – When I finally return to school, I will not stop helping.

Jakub’s dream? A proper fire engine for his home unit. A fundraiser for this purpose is under way: https://pomagam.pl/rynyrjaf.
