Roman Jaworski, Deputy Head of Bolesławiec Municipality:

As of 6 May 2020, the possibility of opening nurseries and kindergartens was created.

Information obtained from the directors of the school-and-kindergarten complexes and the Primary School in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka shows that, as of today, fewer than 10% of parents in Bolesławiec Municipality are interested in sending their child to kindergarten. Understanding the difficult situation of parents who are unable to provide childcare, steps will be taken to enable one kindergarten to open in the municipality.

However, this decision requires extensive preparations to ensure the children’s safety, including:

  1. preparing internal safety procedures at the facility,
  2. preparing procedures for dealing with suspected infection and effectively training employees in their application,
  3. ensuring appropriate hygiene supplies for the facility’s operation, as well as personal protective equipment and rapid communication for teachers and support staff,
  4. designating and preparing a room, equipped among other things with personal protective equipment and disinfectant, where a person can be isolated if symptoms of illness are identified,
  5. preparing the kindergarten rooms: limiting the number of toys (the rooms must not contain stuffed toys, carpets, building blocks or other toys that cannot be effectively disinfected); it is also necessary to ensure an appropriate distance between the children, with approximately 4 m² provided per person,
  6. preparing a rapid communication channel with parents,
  7. establishing a method of rapid communication with the director, for example to report the number of children or in the event of suspected infection.

To ensure that children can stay safely in accordance with the guidelines of the Chief Sanitary Inspector, parents will be required to provide the director with relevant information about the child’s health, bring the child only if healthy and free of any symptoms of illness, not bring the child if someone at home is under quarantine or in isolation, and frequently remind the child about hygiene rules, particularly frequent handwashing, not shaking hands when greeting others and not touching the face.

The deputy head of Bolesławiec Municipality Office adds:

In summary, there is very little interest among parents in having kindergarten care provided (in some localities, practically none). Nevertheless, in order to meet the expectations of those parents who have expressed such a need, we will make a number of efforts in the near future to enable children from the municipality to safely use kindergarten care by preparing one facility. However, parents wishing to send their child to kindergarten should bear in mind that they will have to take the child to the facility themselves, and that care for the group may be entrusted to teachers other than those familiar to the child. Information about which kindergarten this will be will be provided to you by the directors of the educational institutions at a later date, but not before 15 May 2020.
