The fight against coronavirus continues. In addition to their daily training, soldiers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment from Bolesławiec are primarily patrolling the area along the Polish-German and Polish-Czech borders between Zgorzelec and Bogatynia. One of the six so-called tripoints in Poland is located here. This one lies between Porajów, Hrádek nad Nisou and Zittau. A stone obelisk marks the border point on the Czech and Polish sides. The flags of the neighboring countries—Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany—as well as the European Union, proudly fly in the wind.
“The soldiers’ service at the border is one element of the measures aimed at limiting the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in our country and mitigating its effects,” says senior warrant officer Rafał Mniedło. “The tasks are carried out as part of the Military Task Force, together with border guards and police officers, as well as soldiers of the 22nd Mountain Infantry Battalion from Kłodzko and the 11th Logistic Brigade from Opole. The Voivodeship Military Staffs from Zielona Góra and Wrocław are also taking part in the operation.”

Under the coronavirus epidemic regulations, Poland’s border may be crossed only at designated locations. Only Polish citizens or people with permanent-residence rights may enter Poland, and they are still referred for quarantine.
Freight traffic continues without disruption, but trucks are checked to ensure that the driver is not transporting other people.
