Police officers identified the perpetrator of the bicycle theft as a result of operational activities. “The 33-year-old was arrested while riding the bicycle he had obtained through a crime committed several days earlier near one of the stores in Bolesławiec,” explains asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

She adds:

In addition, the officers proved that the suspect had committed two other thefts; in both cases, the thief stole bicycles left in a stairwell.

The earlier crimes took place in February and March in Bolesławiec. The 33-year-old told the officers that he had sold the stolen bicycles to random people.

The arrested man was charged with three offenses. He could face a sentence of between three months and as much as five years in prison.

The recovered bicycle, worth PLN 1,500, will be handed over to its owner.
