– In the current situation of combating the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the numerous new cases of infection recorded in Lower Silesia, including in the Jeleniogórska Valley, and with the expected peak in cases forecast for the turn of April and May this year, it is necessary to take swift and decisive steps to ensure the proper functioning of the Regional Hospital in Jelenia Góra – says Michał Nowakowski, press spokesman for the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. – It is necessary to appoint an experienced person to serve as acting Director of this very important medical facility in order to effectively counter the Covid-19 pandemic and protect the health and lives of the residents of the Jeleniogórska Valley. In the opinion of the Lower Silesian Voivode and the Marshal of the Voivodeship, Mr Nikolaj Lambrinow has extensive competence in managing a multispecialty healthcare facility and many years of medical experience.
Nikolaj Lambrinow is an emergency medicine physician and surgeon. Since 2017, he has been director of the Ambulance Service in Jelenia Góra; he was also deputy director of the district hospital in Bolesławiec for many years and head of its Hospital Emergency Department.
Currently, the duties of director of the Jelenia Góra Ambulance Service will be performed by Barbara Kołtok, deputy director for economic affairs.

In accordance with the decision of the Lower Silesian Voivode, agreed with the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship today, Mr Nikolaj Lambrinow, the current director of the Ambulance Service in Jelenia Góra, was due to begin work as acting Director of the Jeleniogórska Valley Regional Hospital Centre. Mr Nikolaj Lambrinow’s delegation was prompted by the need to reinforce the Regional Hospital in Jelenia Góra in order to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. We conveyed this information to you this morning.
Unfortunately, shortly after conveying this information to you, we received news that an infectious outbreak had been detected at the Ambulance Service in Jelenia Góra. One paramedic was confirmed to have coronavirus infection, which had so far been asymptomatic. Consequently, a group of approximately 50 Ambulance Service staff members in Jelenia Góra, including paramedics and the unit’s management, was placed in quarantine. The quarantine also applies to the Ambulance Service director, Mr Nikolaj Lambrinow. Tests will be carried out immediately to confirm or rule out coronavirus infection among the Ambulance Service crew.
The Ambulance Service in Jelenia Góra continues to operate in four counties and provide medical assistance to residents of the Jeleniogórska Valley. The teams stationed in Kamienna Góra will be supported by Ambulance Service units from Wałbrzych. Paramedics from the Jelenia Góra Ambulance Service will respond to calls wearing full protective equipment. The situation is currently changing rapidly, and we are doing everything possible to ensure the smooth operation of the Jelenia Góra Ambulance Service.
Once the test performed on the Ambulance Service director has been received and coronavirus infection has been ruled out, Mr Nikolaj Lambrinow will be able to take charge of the Jeleniogórska Valley Regional Hospital Centre. The entire situation shows how difficult and demanding the fight is against the unpredictable threat posed by the coronavirus epidemic.
