The incident occurred on Thursday, April 9, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in Zebrzydowa. Volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
We received a report of a car fire at the intersection in Zebrzydowa. The driver's quick reaction and use of a dry-powder fire extinguisher suppressed the fire at an early stage, limiting the damage to the engine compartment.
The firefighters added:
Our actions consisted of checking the engine compartment with a thermal imaging camera, disconnecting the battery and dousing the scorched engine components with water.
Fortunately, no one was injured. Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Nowogrodziec and Zebrzydowa, as well as a police patrol, took part in the operation.
