All the teachers rushed to send lessons through the electronic school register, following orders from above. Some did so with better, original ideas; others had no idea, because the situation took everyone by surprise—including the teachers. The minister, wanting to show what he could do, gave the order. Principals and teachers carried it out as best they could, even if the order was senseless, lacked a plan, and was simply stupid. Our reader sent us information that the students in her child’s class received immediately after the schools were closed and asked: are we supposed to stay at home or go for walks? The information read as follows:

[…] recommends that during school-free days, children undertake the following forms of activity:
at least an hour-long walk every day
training with a personal trainer or morning exercises (videos available) at least once a day […]

Students could safely ignore the assignments and instructions sent to them through the electronic school register from the day the school closed, because there were no legal grounds for implementing the curriculum. The assignments sent out and their receipt by students served only the PiS minister Dariusz Piontkowski to continue promoting the propaganda of success on TVP.

Remote teaching is not supposed to begin until March 25. According to the minister, schools are prepared for remote teaching. This is fiction. Teachers have neither the tools nor the training for remote teaching. Sending instructions by email and links to YouTube or other free websites is not remote learning. Once again, our children will become guinea pigs in proving how wonderfully the government cares for students’ education in a time of crisis.

The world has never seen such a defective product as the distance-learning legal regulations produced by the Ministry of National Education. It would be easier for teachers, led by their principal, to climb Mount Everest without oxygen than to adapt within a few days to these regulations devised by madmen detached from reality.

Experienced educators appeal: give teachers, children, and parents a moment to breathe, some peace and respite. Relationships matter most—not tests, assignments, or essays. Something has happened to us that no one has experienced before. No one learns well under stress. Let us not allow our children to be treated as objects because it is necessary to prove that the government is in control of everything.
