We received a request for intervention on this matter in the Editorial Office’s inbox. The message reads:
They have money for the “Bolesławiec” sign, yet the main entrance to Primary School No. 5 on Dolne Młyny Street is taped off, and it is not possible to enter via the middle of the stairs. No one repaired this during the summer holidays. I would like to remind you that this is the main entrance, which students, teachers and parents use to enter the school every day.
We asked the Bolesławiec City Office for comment on the matter.
Here is the response we received from Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the City Office:
Good morning,
funds for reconstructing the main entrance stairs to the Primary School No. 5 building, amounting to PLN 170,000, have been secured in the city budget. The technical condition of the stairs requires a complete and thorough reconstruction, rather than merely temporary patching. The City Office is currently conducting a procedure to select a construction contractor. At present, the formal, legal and price evaluation stage of the submitted proposals is underway. The planned completion date for the construction work is October 31, 2026. The project includes a comprehensive reconstruction: removing the old coverings, demolishing the existing surface, laying new surfaces for the stairs, ramp and walls using durable granite slabs, renovating the railings and applying new plaster.
The construction work will be carried out while the school remains in operation. The contractor will be required to exercise particular care, properly separate the work zone from the teaching area, and closely coordinate the schedule with the school principal and occupational health and safety services.
