Ladies and Gentlemen –
We are experiencing a difficult time for all of us, for the world, for our homeland, for our residents and for our families.
First, my thanks go to all those who have complied with the recommendations concerning quarantine, personal hygiene and limiting contact. The majority of Bolesławiec residents are responsible people—mobilized and disciplined. Observing this discipline is very important. The Italians, who disregarded these recommendations, are experiencing enormous personal and social tragedies. I extend my greatest thanks to the everyday heroes: doctors, nurses, paramedics, all hospital and clinic staff, as well as people working in shops and banks, municipal services, the police, the fire service, Sanepid and many, many others. We appreciate and thank the employees of medical, social, uniformed and municipal services, postal workers, courier companies, production plants and service businesses in various sectors, as well as employees of commercial establishments and stalls, salespeople and volunteers—all representatives of professions who cannot switch to remote work—for their daily effort and commitment. The most difficult time is ahead of us. I believe that if we remain calm and disciplined, we will protect ourselves from seeing images that we know from other countries, but only from television.
Ladies and Gentlemen! Together with the county governor, we are organizing the sewing and delivery of personal protective equipment for the employees of our hospital. Bolesławiec plants and wholesalers are supporting us. The first rolls of material, from which special protective overalls will be sewn, should arrive today. Our Bolesławiec companies are carrying out all activities under a state of heightened readiness. The city must be clean and safe. Our waterworks are ensuring the safety of the water and sewage systems. MZGK is responsible for waste collection. The Municipal Housing Management Department is responsible for cleanliness in our homes and stairwells. The District Heating Company is safely supplying thermal energy. We are in constant contact with the Lower Silesian Voivode, all services and other companies that must continue working at all times so that we can all feel safe. Our services are responsible for social assistance and the education of children and young people. We have launched telephone psychological consultations. The basic services of the municipal office related to population records continue to operate; the Civil Registry Office also continues to work internally. We remain at your disposal, but only by telephone and online.
I appeal to everyone to strictly follow the recommendations. The most difficult time is ahead of us. Please pay attention to the weakest people, who are most at risk and often need help from their neighbours. I always repeat that Bolesławiec’s greatest strength is its residents. I believe that during this period of great trial we will defend ourselves. Bolesławiec must win. Thanks to wisdom and its residents.
I wish you health, strength and perseverance.
Piotr Roman
