We are currently experiencing a difficult period of epidemiological threat, accompanied by justified fears and concerns. This is a time of trial for all of us. On behalf of the Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji Spółka z o.o., I would like to share some good news with you.
We deliver good, healthy water to your homes and apartments. Its importance is now particularly great, as it enables us to maintain cleanliness and health; it can and should be consumed without concern. Keeping the body hydrated is very important when caring for our immunity. Above all, it should be emphasized that the World Health Organization (WHO) confirms that water supply systems do not pose a risk as a means of spreading the coronavirus. We collect and treat wastewater, which is no less important during an epidemic.
At this time, the benefits of investments carried out in recent years are becoming particularly significant. Thanks to them, we have created a safe water-supply system with substantial reserves and considerable potential for increasing the volume of deliveries. It is a safe, fully monitored system with regard to water quality and the operation of all equipment, featuring automatic pressure and flow regulation and, importantly, the option of remote control.
Our management system is also proving its worth. In January, we conducted a full official inspection of all facilities and equipment, including water intakes and treatment plants, water tanks and pressure-boosting stations, water-disinfection systems, network-pressure regulation systems, pumping stations and wastewater treatment plants. In total, we inspected 199 facilities, including 104 in the Bolesławiec area, 56 in Lwówek Śląski and 39 in Wleń. All facilities are properly secured and the equipment is operational. We are doing everything possible to ensure that our services are provided continuously and at the level maintained to date. Failures may occur, but we will remove them urgently, as before.
This period requires extraordinary measures, which we are taking and planning. We are protecting our customers, but also our employees, whom we are safeguarding with particular care. Their health and readiness to work are essential and require special protection due to the need to maintain production continuity.
For this reason, among other measures, we have introduced a two-shift, rotating work system with a half-hour technical break, which for the offices takes place from 11:00 to 11:30. We have limited the scope of work to activities necessary for maintaining production and removing failures. We apologize for any resulting inconvenience, but this is necessary.
Our Customer Service Offices remain open under a modified organizational arrangement; no more than three people may enter the premises at a time, while maintaining the required distances. Customer-service employees are present only in cashier areas protected by glass windows. Outside visitors may not enter the remaining facilities. At the building on Łasicka Street, mail and correspondence should be left in a special entrance vestibule. The vast majority of matters can be handled by email, telephone and, which we particularly recommend, through our website, which has an Online Customer Service Office /e-BOK/.
I believe that we will manage during this difficult period. For our part, we will make every effort to minimize risks and provide you with these much-needed services.
Let us wish one another good health
