On Friday (13 March), in the morning, there were 8 patients suspected of having coronavirus at the hospital in Bolesławiec. So far, there has not been a single confirmed case of infection in Bolesławiec.
The county hospital is still struggling with problems. Despite the voivode allocating PLN 2 million to fight coronavirus, the facility is still short of disposable supplies such as coveralls, masks and gowns.
Kamil Barczyk, director of the County Hospital in Bolesławiec, assures that he is in constant contact with suppliers of this equipment and is monitoring the situation in shops and wholesalers. The problem does not concern only the care of patients staying in the infectious disease ward.
Disposable supplies (masks and gowns) are beginning to run short for performing operations. The conduct of entrepreneurs who supplied the hospital with disinfectant free of charge is positive, however.
The hospital is increasing the number of places for admitting people suspected of having coronavirus. Several dozen places are being created in the former internal medicine ward, as well as in the neurology and paediatrics wards. Patients from these wards were gradually transported to hospitals in Legnica and Zgorzelec. Those who had completed their hospitalisation are being discharged home.
The maternity ward will remain open.
If necessary, the hospital may be entirely designated for admitting patients suspected of having coronavirus.
