Readers are upset that it is not possible to use the spacious waiting room at the County Office. People are being let in one at a time, even though it is raining outside.

Although the County Office did inform people yesterday that all matters could be handled on the basis of written applications submitted exclusively at the Customer Service Office (entrance to Building A), no one expected that it would not be possible to wait in the waiting room.

Are the people crowded together outside the entrance to the County Office less exposed to the coronavirus than they would be if they were sitting inside the building?

The County Office is not commenting on the situation for now.

Update 01:30

We present the County Office's response.

The epidemiological situation is currently exceptionally difficult. Under these extreme conditions, the office management decided to change the rules for serving customers.

This is solely about safety, namely minimizing the risk of coronavirus infection for both customers and employees working at positions providing direct customer service. We kindly ask for your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience.

We encourage you to contact us by telephone and email. The county office officials are making every effort to ensure that your matters are handled on an ongoing basis and within the deadlines.

If, for any reason, you must come to the office in person, all matters can be handled on the basis of written applications submitted exclusively at the Customer Service Office (entrance to Building A).

You will be informed by telephone when your matter has been handled, and the documents will also be available for collection at the Customer Service Office. Due to the need to temporarily suspend the use of payment terminals, proof of payment must be attached to the case documentation.
