The incident occurred on Monday, March 9, after 7:00 p.m., on President Lech Kaczyński Avenue. “The officers from the operational and investigative unit were returning from an incident in an unmarked police car. On the overpass, they noticed the driver of a Fiat passenger car,” says Asp. Staff Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “The man was flashing his vehicle’s headlights, signaling to other drivers to get out of his way.”
The officers decided to stop the car for a check. A 75-year-old resident of Lubin was behind the wheel. “As soon as his car doors opened, the officers immediately smelled alcohol. A road-traffic patrol called to the scene checked the man’s sobriety; the result was more than 1.7 per mille,” the spokesperson adds.
The man, who has already lost his driving privileges, could now face up to two years in prison.
