Police officers from the station in Nowogrodziec and the police headquarters in Bolesławiec, acting jointly, detained the perpetrator of two crimes. The 32-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec Municipality was charged with burglary and failing to stop for a roadside inspection.
The first crime took place on January 21. Taking advantage of a truck being parked for an extended period, the perpetrator broke into its fuel tank. The thief made off with 250 liters of diesel fuel.
The suspect told the officers that he had used the stolen fuel for his own needs.
Then, during the night of February 4–5, the 32-year-old failed to stop for a roadside inspection. (While fleeing from a police patrol, the man abandoned the car).
“Police officers are currently investigating how the suspect came into possession of the vehicle, as he claims that he bought the car but does not have a sales agreement,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
The 32-year-old explained that he had fled from the police because he did not have a driving licence. The resident of Nowogrodziec Municipality could now face a sentence of between one and as many as ten years in prison.
