On 3 March, officers from the Border Guard Post in Legnica selected for inspection on the A4 motorway a passenger car whose driver turned out to be a 42-year-old Ukrainian citizen.
“During the inspection, officers established that the foreign national was in possession of a Lithuanian identity card issued with completely different personal details. A detailed verification of the document’s authenticity found that it was entirely forged to resemble the original. The man was therefore detained,” says Maj. Preparatory proceedings were initiated against the foreign national. “The man admitted to the acts of which he was accused and voluntarily accepted a fine of PLN 3,500,” adds Maj. J. Konieczniak. “Additionally, the Commander of the Border Guard Post in Legnica issued a decision obliging him to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland; under this decision, the Ukrainian citizen will have to leave the country within 15 days. The decision also includes a six-month ban on entering the countries of the Schengen Area.”
