The agenda for the February meeting of the Bolesławiec City Council will include, among other things, a vote on two resolutions concerning the granting of the title “Distinguished for the City of Bolesławiec”. The outcome of both votes already seems settled, as they concern:
- Władysława Kotlarek
She has been associated with the Bolesławiec Amazons Club for many years. The club was established to help and support people affected by cancer from the city and Bolesławiec County, regardless of their sex or type of illness. Since 2009, she has served as the club’s President, actively working for equal rights for people with various disabilities. Under the leadership of Władysława Kotlarek, the Bolesławiec Amazons Club provides physical and psychological rehabilitation and organises educational campaigns as part of breast cancer prevention efforts. Every year, Władysława Kotlarek organises Bolesławiec Cancer Awareness Day. In 2016, she was actively involved in organising the 20th anniversary of the Bolesławiec Amazons Club. Władysława Kotlarek’s activities have been recognised on many levels by institutions of varying scope and rank. In October 2012, during the conference “Women’s Activity in Lower Silesia”, she received an award from Mayor Piotr Roman for promoting women’s activity. In June 2016, she was honoured by the Federation of Amazon Associations with the “Ruby Amazon Bow” distinction for her work for the Bolesławiec Amazons Club and the local community of women affected by breast cancer. In September 2016, the Jury of the Krystyna Bochenek Lady D. Competition recognised Władysława Kotlarek for her active involvement in various areas of social life, and in December 2016, Władysława Kotlarek took third place in the “Personality” category of the “Women’s Faces – Women’s Faces” Business Poll. The poll recognised, among others, women who serve as examples and role models for others. In recognition of her outstanding merits, Mayor Piotr Roman presented Władysława Kotlarek with an Honorary Award for promoting the city in 2016. - Eugenia Wolska
A retired teacher of I LO in Bolesławiec, she founded the Social Association Teachers’ Club “Carpe Diem” in 2003 and has remained its President to this day. The Club’s primary aim is to combat the exclusion from public life of elderly, ill and poor people. From 2011 to 2013, she served as Chairwoman of the Bolesławiec Council for Senior Citizens advising the Mayor of Bolesławiec, and from 2015 to 2019 as Chairwoman of the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens Council. The experience Eugenia Wolska has gained through her social work has enabled her to effectively address issues affecting older people and establish cooperation through International Senior Citizens’ Meetings in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic organised by the “Pogranicze” Association. She has repeatedly organised trips for senior citizens to German and Czech partner cities along the VIA Fabrilis and Via Regia routes. Every January, Eugenia Wolska, as President of “Carpe Diem”, organises an integration meeting for senior citizens called “The Mystery of Bread”, attended by organisations working to improve the quality of life of older people. She is also the originator of the literary competition “Preserve in Time”, whose aim is to build intergenerational relationships and encourage children and young people to learn about the roots and life stories of their grandparents. Eugenia Wolska has twice received an award from the Mayor of Bolesławiec for promoting the city: for 2009 in the field of culture and for 2012 in the social field. She has also been awarded the “Distinguished for Polish Culture” badge, granted by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
