Bolesławiec detectives detained a man suspected of stealing and using other people’s payment cards as a result of operational activities. “As a result of the crime, the perpetrator came into possession of cards, which he used to make 19 payments in a short time,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer for the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters.
The suspect is a 35-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. He paid with cards that did not belong to him for groceries purchased at a shop, bakery and petrol stations. To avoid arousing the suspicions of employees at retail and service outlets, he changed the places where he shopped. The payments he made varied in amount, but did not exceed PLN 50.
“When the detainee realised that the owner had blocked the cards from being used for payments, he threw away the pieces of plastic that were useless to him,” the District Police Headquarters spokesperson adds.
The 35-year-old now faces a sentence of between one and ten years in prison.
