Our Reader asked us to publicize the matter: “I would like to draw your attention to the children’s playground on Łukasiewicza Street. The question is: who takes care of order and safety at this playground? A great many children play there, yet the play equipment is dangerous and certainly does not meet any standards. Many elements are missing. The ladders used to access the slides are broken. Numerous dangers await children at this playground. Now that it is the holiday season and children are playing, we can only wait for an unfortunate accident. Who will be held responsible?”

The playground on Łukasiewicza Street is one of the largest facilities of its kind in our city. Many parents bring their children there. Young children are difficult to supervise, and an accident can happen easily. Grażyna Strzyżewska, head of the Municipal Department of the City Hall, reassures residents: the playground equipment will be repaired by the end of next week. “We commissioned the repairs to Zieleń-Plan. Until last year, the equipment at the playground on Łukasiewicza Street was under warranty. We are now repairing it ourselves. Some elements that need replacing have to be ordered, and that may take some time,” the official says. She also adds that playground equipment is often damaged by vandals. “It is worth bearing this in mind,” Strzyżewska emphasizes.
