The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 5, in the morning hours. Firefighters were dispatched to a soot fire in a chimney flue in the village of Czerna.
Volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
Using a mechanical ladder and chimney-sweeping equipment, the burning soot was knocked from the chimney walls, and then extinguishing powder and high-pressure water were used to eliminate the hazard.
The firefighters add:
During the operation, we had to carry out demolition work on part of the chimney because pockets of fire were located between the chimney liner and the chimney walls.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Nowogrodziec and Gierałtów took part in the operation.
