Police officers from Kowary detained a 47-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County suspected of mentally and physically abusing his partner, as well as driving a vehicle while intoxicated and in violation of a court ban.
The 47-year-old was detained on January 28, during an intervention reported by the victim. “The man had been mentally and physically abusing her for several years,” says Deputy Inspector Edyta Bagrowska of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra. “The woman endured the humiliations inflicted on her by her partner for a long time and did not notify the police.
The man abused alcohol, which triggered his aggression. He started arguments for no reason, during which he insulted, beat and humiliated the woman. He also threatened to kill her. Deputy Inspector Bagrowska:
That day, the woman called the police immediately after receiving telephone threats from the 47-year-old. Although he was not at home at the time, the victim feared for her health and life, as well as her property.
When the officers arrived at the scene, the 47-year-old also appeared. He arrived by car. It turned out that he was drunk. A breath test showed nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol. Police officers said: “This was not the first time the man had driven a car under the influence of alcohol; he was also banned from driving.
The officers placed the aggressor in police custody.
He now faces between three months and up to five years in prison. The prosecutor placed the 47-year-old under police supervision. The suspect is also prohibited from approaching the victim, contacting her and leaving the country.
