What unusual names were given?
Ministry:
Not all parents look for inspiration in the top ten of our ranking. On DANE.gov.pl, we also checked the names that appeared least frequently.
Zoi, Emi and Eileen are girls’ names that appear twice in our list. The same applies to the boys’ names Javier and Fabien.
Officials add:
Important! In our ranking, we do not disclose which names were given to only one child. We do not do so to protect personal data. It would be easy to identify such a child, and neither the child nor their parents may wish this, which we respect.
What should you consider when choosing a name for a child?
Ministry: – When choosing a name for our offspring, we should remember that under the law, we should not choose a name that is humiliating. Moreover, the name should also indicate the child’s sex. If we do not follow these rules, the head of the civil registry office (USC) where we wish to register our child may reject our choice.
How do you register a birth?
The easiest way is… of course, online. – In 2019, the parents of exactly 45,004 children used this option. This means that one in every ten children born in Poland last year was registered with the office online – says Minister of Digital Affairs Marek Zagórski. – Considering that this is still a fairly new service, that is an excellent result – adds the head of MC.
What do you need to do to complete this formality online?
Above all, parents have 21 days from the issuance of the birth card to fulfil this obligation. Ministry:
The birth card has been issued and delivered to the USC – now it is your turn. First, decide who will report the child. The mother or the father?
The parent who registers the child should have a trusted profile (it will also be useful for the other parent…). If you do not have one yet, be sure to create one. It will be useful for submitting an application for 500+, logging in to the Internet Patient Account, installing the mObywatel app on your phones (you will find e-prescriptions there), and handling many other matters related to the arrival of a child.
You can find out everything about the trusted profile at www.pz.gov.pl. You can also create one there (completely free of charge).
Once the trusted profile has been created, the next step is to visit www.GOV.PL. While there, look in the upper-right corner of the page. You will find the link to My GOV there. Click it and log in with your trusted profile. After logging in, select the e-service “Register a child’s birth.”
The entire process consists of just five simple steps:
Step 1: Declare that you are the parent.
Step 2: Check that your details are correct and enter the details of the other parent.
Step 3: Complete the child’s details.
Step 4: Choose the child’s registered address and how to receive the documents.
Step 5: Check all the information in the application and sign it with your trusted profile.Done!
It is worth providing your email address and telephone number in the notification—they may be useful if the head of the USC needs clarification.
