The incident occurred in one of the apartments on Przybosia Street in Legnica. A days-long drinking binge was taking place there, attended by a 25-year-old acquaintance of the dog’s owners. At one point, the Legnica resident slipped on the animal’s urine. This enraged him so much that he threw the dog from the ninth floor, straight onto a sports field. (Fortunately, there were no children on it at that moment.)
The 25-year-old, who had already been in conflict with the law, was arrested. The prosecutor charged him with killing an animal with particular cruelty.
“The man confessed to his act and explained his behavior by saying that he had abused alcohol for many hours,” says Radosław Wrębiak, district prosecutor in Legnica.
The arrested man now faces a sentence ranging from three months to as many as five years in prison.
