On Friday, January 24, an emergency operation took place in Nowogrodziec, near the observation tower, in connection with a mortar grenade found during renovation work at the aforementioned site. The volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:

The specialists established a danger zone with a radius of 300 m from the dangerous projectile.

The firefighters added:

[…] we helped the emergency medical service evacuate sick people. After these activities, together with the police, we blocked road and pedestrian traffic at the designated posts until the danger was removed by the sappers’ patrol.

Fortunately, no one was injured. In the operation, which lasted from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., besides OSP Nowogrodziec and Demining Patrol No. 23 of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec, firefighters from Bolesławiec, Czerna, Nowogrodziec–Osiedle, Gierałtów, Zebrzydowa and Gościszów also took part, along with an emergency medical team and the police.
