A mortar shell was found in Nowogrodziec, between the observation tower and the military cemetery. (It was covered with sandbags).
An operation by sappers from the 23rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol in Bolesławiec is underway. The services are evacuating people within a 300-metre radius of the dangerous find.
At 11:00, the sappers will begin removing the unexploded ordnance; the operation may take approximately two hours.
Everyone present in Nowogrodziec in properties located on the following streets will be evacuated:
- Adama Asnyka – entire street
- Bolesławiecka – numbers 10 to 18
- Henryka Sienkiewicza – entire street
- Ogrodowa – entire street
- 1 Maja – numbers 24 to 25a
- Krótka – entire street
- Mickiewicza 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
- as well as Milików 23a, 23b, 121a, 121b, 121c; Lipowa St. 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 32; Morelowa St. 1 to 10, Jodłowa St. 7, 8, 10, 13, 15; Bukowa St. 1; Dębowa St. 2
(The school was also evacuated).
For the duration of the evacuation, rooms have been prepared at the OSP in Nowogrodziec: 20 Lubańska St., and at GCKiS, 42a Lubańska St., where people can take shelter.
From 10:00, pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the danger area will be suspended until further notice.
