The incident took place last weekend in one of the apartments in Rakowice Wielkie (Lwówek County). An explosion occurred.
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, it turned out that a device used to produce ethyl alcohol had exploded. The man who was engaged in this activity suffered serious burns and was taken to a specialist hospital.
The equipment used to produce moonshine was secured. The police remind the public that under the Act on the Production of Ethyl Alcohol and the Manufacture of Tobacco Products:
Anyone who, without the required entry in the registers [...], produces, denatures, purifies or dehydrates ethyl alcohol, or manufactures tobacco products, is subject to a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to one year.

At the same time, we warn that home production of alcohol can primarily pose a danger to the health and lives of the people producing it, as well as those consuming the resulting alcohol.
