A reader, a mother of two, wrote to us:

Please [...] raise the issue of the lack of a sidewalk for residents of blocks 6ab, 7abc and 8abc on Kilińskiego Street. The exits from the stairwells lead directly onto the street, where there are not even speed bumps, while drivers ignore the speed limit sign and drive too fast.

She added:

Because there is no sidewalk, children and adults have to walk in the street.

Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall:

The road lane of Kilińskiego Street, at the level of blocks 6ab, 7abc and 8abc, is too narrow for a sidewalk to be built there. (The entire plot is occupied by the roadway, and technical conditions do not allow for sidewalk construction.) The adjacent land belongs to the “Bolesławianka” Housing Cooperative. Applicable law precludes building a sidewalk on land that is not owned by a local-government unit, in this case the municipality.

The spokesperson adds:

The speed limit currently in force on Kilińskiego Street is 30 km/h. To further calm traffic, a safety analysis will be carried out, along with consideration of additional measures, such as the aforementioned speed bumps.

The matter has been referred to the Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Construction Committee of the Bolesławiec City Council.
